Free Palestine CD
- Released in solidarity with the Palestinian people to raise money for the youth of the Balata refugee camp
Many of Iceland's finest rock, pop, hip hop & electronica artists have contributed to the 'Frjáls Palestína' ('Free Palestine' on English) CD compilation to show solidarity with the people of occupied Palestine and raise money for the youth of the most densely populated refugee camp in the West Bank, Balata. All profits made of the album sale is awarded to sponsor Project Hope, a non-profit volunteer organization that aims to provide hope and opportunities for the youth of Palestine.
Free Palestine CDincludes 18 tracks, half of which are exclusively released here and the other half is handpicked back catalogue material by the artists themselves. The tracklist includes artists such as Gus Gus, múm, Mugison, Leaves, Ragnar (of Trabant) and Ghostigital fronted by Einar Örn (who along with Björk fronted the legendary Icelandic indie band Sugarcubes).
Four of the tracks are on Icelandic, 13 on English and one is instrumental. By buying a copy of Free Palestine you're not only supporting a good cause, but also getting your hands on "one of the best Icelandic compilation to be released in recent years" (Matti, program director of XFM, Iceland's leading rock radio station), an "fantastic album! [which] gives a good summary on what is happening in Icelandic music today" (Óli Palli, music director of the Icelandic National Radio 2).
